From: The Confidence Killer.
You might be thinking: “Who is this writing on English For Study?”
Before I answer your question… I have a question for you.
Have you ever walked away from a conversation and felt like hitting yourself in the head because you said something dumb?
If you have, it’s probably because of me:
The Confidence Killer.
I feed on the confidence and motivation of English learners.
How do I do it? Here, let me tell you:
First, I wait for you to start a conversation in English with someone. I wait for this time because I know that it’s a challenge to start conversations in English.
I wait for you to feel comfortable and confident in the conversation. That’s when I make my move. I distract you for just a second, so that you forget to listen to what the other person is saying.
Then I make forget a few of your important English phrases.
Finally, the person stops speaking, and you stand there feeling anxious because you don’t know how to reply….
And that, my friend, is how I, the Confidence Killer, work.
I live inside your head, and my goal is to destroy your speaking confidence.
I have one weakness.
And I’m going to tell you my weakness because I’m confident that you can’t defeat me.
My one weakness is:
if you can speak automatically.
If your English is so good that you can respond to people automatically (without thinking), then my powers have no effect on you.
It’s not easy to become automatic in English. In fact, it takes a lot of work.
But, if you want to defeat me once and for all, then this is what you need to do:
Practise and use English until you can use it automatically.
Of course, it’s not that simple… You need to know which English you should use in different situations. It also helps if you know the most effective ways to practise and remember English, too.
That’s why Sam (from English For Study) is my arch-enemy.
He has created an advanced English program called ‘The Difference’, which focuses on creating automatic English speakers – people who can use English without thinking…
I heard that he wants to help people become so good at English that I cannot kill their confidence…
Fortunately, today is the last day that people can join for April. After today, I don’t need to fear for another month!
Where can you join?
That’s an easy question.
You can join right here:
But, don’t join. I need more victims!
The Confidence Killer
Ps. If Sam (from English for Study) writes to you later, ignore him. He’s only going to tell you all of the English learning goodness that is included in April’s edition of The Difference.
Sam is the founder and creator of English For Study. He’s also a lecturer in EAP/Academic English. Apart from making Academic English easy, he likes learning languages, lifting weights and eating good food.
